SARTARELLI The Marche
Verdicchio is a serious grape variety: wonderfully aromatic with weight and presence. Patrizio Chiaccherini and Donatella Sartarelli are experts in these varietals and on their 39 hectares grow nothing else. The vineyards are all above 300 meters, somewhat steep, and south to southeast facing except for the Balciana slopes which are northeast facing. This results in a much longer ripening season and a higher concentration of aromatics and sugars, as well as the occasional late harvest. The vines are densely planted and yields are low.
