Gagliasso, La Morra, Piedmont

We have imported two of the best Barolo " CRU" vineyard wines. The 'Torriglione' and the incredible 'Rocche dell' Annunziata'. Gagliasso produces these two wonderfully complex wines reflecting the terroire of La Morra beautifully. Very low yields in the vineyards and long maceration in the winery help to make these wines sublime examples of Barolo.

Note on Rocche dell' Annunziata by Antonio Galloni

It offers notes of sweet cherry fruit, tobacco, minerals and underbrush on a medium- bodied frame. Like the Torrigione, this will beneifit from a few years in the cellar, though both single-vineyard Barolos feature more prominent tannins tannins than is normally the case for wines from these parts of La Morra. Anticipated maturity:2008-2015

Tenuta Gumphof, Alto Adige

The winery Gumphof is nestled in the steep slopes at the entry of the Isarco Valley. It's vineyards stretch from an altitude of 350 to 550 metres (1,150-1,1800 feet) above sea level. The four hectare (ten acres) are planted with Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer.

At the age of 28, Markus Prackwieser started a quiet transformaton and has produced his own wine ever since. These have been sought after both nationally and internationally, especially his outstanding Praesulis Selection. The name Praesulis derives from the nearby castle of Presule.

The aim is to produce wine, that embodies the character of its surroundings and the people who create it. To obtain fully riped grapes the wine harvest takes place in gradual phases. The grapes are continuously checked for besy quality and undergo very strict selection, this applies in particular to the Praesulis Selection Wines. They are renowed for their complexity, aromatic statements, long finish and mineral notes. It takes care and plenty of time for the wines to frement and mature in the large steel tanks and wooden casks. The Classic Wines are distinguished by their lively, fresh and fruity characteristics, and of course, their fine palate.

Azienda Agricola Valturio, Marche

The wine estate of Azienda Agricola Valturio was founded by Adriano Galli and Isabella Santarelli in 2002 with aim of restoring the production of high quality wine to Montefeltro. This follows a centuries-old tradition that dates from the times of the Dukes of Montefeltro to the beginning of the last century. We could call it mountain viticulture or a heroic feat: At its steepest the gradient is 40%. 7000-10000 plants per hectare are grown in the free-standing alberello (goblete) system on marly, sandy soil, comprising alternately of massive sandstone in medium or thick strata and petite formed from torbiditic siltstone.

Valturio as a sign of continuity and a tradition of excellence. This red wine produced in Montefeltro is obtained from various Sangiovese clones cultivated with the alberello method in an altitude of 500metres.

Solco (which in English signifies furrow, drill, rut). This red wine is produced in Montefeltro from special clones of the richly aromatic Rebo grapes cultivated with the alberello method on ancient hillside terraces and worked with the hoe at an altitude of 550 metres.

This Sangiovese has an elegant style with very refined fruit flavours, medium to full bodied, with great mineral acidity to give a fresh taste of red and black fruit. Aged for 12 months in French barrel. Recommended one or two years in cellar before drinking

Campo alla Sughera, Bolgheri, Toscana

Bolgheri is the home to some of Italy's most respected wines including Sassicaia, Camarcanda of Angelo Gaia and Ornellaia to name but a few. Campo alla Sughera is the latest house offering up quality wines from this superb region and is already establishing itself as one of the top performers. Their wines have already won gold medals at Vinitaly, as well as picking up a gold medel in Russia. The reason behind this remarkable achievement is the high tech wine cellar, great vineyard site, very low yield, the respecting of simple rules, all well integrated in Campo alla Sughera philosophy. The grapes planted are Sauvignon, Viognier, and Chardonnay for white, Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot, Petit Verdot for red.

Ca del Baio

A great love for the earth and the hard work of four generations gave birth to Ca’ del Baio and helped it grow and realize the fruits of its success. The first person to actually vinify grapes was Luigi Grasso, followed by Ernesto and finally Giulio who, along with his wife Luciana, has prepared the future: the daughters Paola, Valentina and Federica. Azienda Agricola Ca’ del Baio is located in the town of Treiso, in the province of Cuneo, in the Langhe region.

Wine is made in the vineyard where the typicity of particular grape varieties is preserved, old clones are taken care of, and work is carried out with passion and experience, day after day, season after season. The wines of Ca’ del Baio are born out of this close relationship of love, which begins in the vineyard and continues in the winery.

               Terre Dei Fuochi    -  Basilicata

The Carbone c ompany is located in Melfi, on the lower slopes of Mount Vulture, an ancient volcano in the heart of Basilicata (south Italy) blessing the area with a unique terroir: a lava soil, rich in potassium and extremely fertile.

The uncontaminated nature of Mount Vulture provides high quality mineral waters, wines and olive oils. Its marriage with the microclimate, which presents wide temperature difference between day and night, transforms the Aglianico (who sends its roots into this soil) into a quite outstanding wine.

Wine is a family passion for the Carbone's, grape farmers since 1974, inherited from their parents by Luca and Sara, who proceed with the Aglianico DOC wine making activity under the inherited experience and values.

Le Due Terre

Le Due Terre

Click to enlargeLe Due Terre was founded in 1984 by Silvana Forte and Flavio Basilicata in Prepotto, on the eastern hills of Friuli.

The name “Le Due Terre” is a tribute to the terroir of this area, rich in micro elements and characterized by two types of soil: clay and marl (also locally known as ponca), mudstones that tend to progressively crumble into flakes, or small pieces.

The winery has always been environmentally oriented. It has developed a natural viticulture method and a natural winemaking style consistent with its commitment to the environment.

The vinification is done in a non-technological, traditional style, with natural indigenous yeasts inducing spontaneous fermentation. The wines mature for about 22 months in French oak barrels without racking, so that their integrity and the natural characteristics of the varietals are preserved.

The results are wines that are pleasing to us: natural, long-lasting, and elegant, to be appreciated by wine lovers all over the world.
